Inner Beast

This lovable little monster emerged as part of my journalling process a while ago. It wanted to know why no one wanted to play with it and why everyone acted so weird around it?

I think finding a way to get to know your little monsters is a really helpful way of being with alienation and also seeing the beauty and colour that left out or alienated aspects of process can bring.

As I was messing around with colouring this in I realise how much I enjoy bold colours weird and unusual bodies and how this connects me with magic and mystery, wildness and the part of my experience which is more than human. This little monster  is also a symbol of my animal experience a hungry, horny, bleeding beast who wants to connect and explore and be in a sensory body. They don’t have much time for all the wordy social banter and niceties and would rather give you a nibble or sniff your neck than say hello how do you do!

Colouring the beast also helped me to care less about what other people think. Sometimes the joy is in the mess and unfinished things the pleasure of smearing paint or expressing feeling in colour not about keeping up with socially endorsed ideas of perfection. It’s about play and sharing vitality.

My inner beast helps me to see the beauty in the most unsocial aspects of my being and celebrate other peoples funny little animal ways. It also helps me get out of unsafe situations and lets me know when I’ve had enough of all the words and I need a hug or something yummy to yomp on. Take good care of your inner beast cos they can be a powerful friend and a very exhausting enemy! Hope you can give your inner beast a little of what they need today! GRRRR!

Keep your eyes peeled for the next podcast it’s coming soon! Love and Rage xxx
