Funghi Foray

May 25, 2016

I recently met with Alison from the Callis Community Garden to talk about their plans to use mycelium to regerate the land and possible produce a crop. A great resource for learning about the wonderful potential of mushrooms in healing our bodies and wider ecosystems is Paul Stamets book

'Mycelium Running.'

In 2014 I went with Clare on two courses with an organisation called Fungi Futures who are planning to open a mushroom farm in Exeter to grow oyster mushrooms on coffee grounds. We learnt various methods for growing delicious exotic mushrooms on different substrates from cardboard and coffee grounds to hardwood logs.

I enjoy the colour and diversity of wild mushrooms when I am out walking . The ones in these pictures are found on walks in various fields and woodlands (most of them are not edible).
