Roof Garden at Hulme Community Garden Centre in Manchester
When I was working at Hulme Community Garden Centre I was responsible for the care and development of the Green Roof featured here in Mark Frith’s montage clip. Manchester’s only publically accessible green roof is made up of a vegetable patch, wild flower areas and a bee and butterfly garden. It has a sunpipe letting light into the building below and contains many scented herbs and flowers.
Green roofs range from very simple sedum in grit through to quite complex and diverse micro climates like this one. They are a great way to make buildings more aesthetically pleasing and productive and at the same time adding to the biodiversity of your garden.
